Humans are pretty ingenious.

mason-canning-jarsLike, how did we figure out canning? Using heat/pressure to preserve foods long past their expiration date is, not necessarily advanced tech, but it certainly seems like some logical applications of science back in the day when science was poorly misunderstood. And yet, modern grocery stores are pretty much only capable of existing due to this idea.

And who was the brave person who figured out exactly how long you could preserve things in cans? I imagine there might have been some deaths involved before the limits of canning were understood.

But, why don’t we call it “jarring”? After all, home canners use jars, not cans. Perhaps that name is just too jarring (I’m so sorry).

  1. You’re really funny 😀
